I would like to customize the admin menu and edit some user roles using functions.php file. I want the customization’s to stay when Gather theme updates so I have created a child theme to work from. There is no functions.php file in the editor so where do I make these customization’s?

Hi, please add functions.php file to your child theme folder. You can also use gather child theme included in the theme package.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your help on this matter. I have another question for you….

If I have already created a website without a child theme how can I install the child theme without losing any content?

    Thanks

    Unknow

    Hi,

You still create new child theme by using plugin: Childtheme.
After installing, you can do custom there.

Please try to do it and let us know if you can’t do by yourself.

    Thanks

Yes, you can install gather child theme ( included with theme pacakge ) and all your data is safe. There is one more thing you have to do is assign your menu to child theme location.

    Thank you.
